Bat House Building

Forget about the bug spray. If you really want to control insects in your back yard or farm, build a bat house.

The design is extremely important. Of the eight common types, the tallest and widest houses perform the best.

J. MacGregor and D. Dourson of the Daniel Boone National Forest said that the best results are to locate houses in 1)Forest habitats on south or southwest slopes, 2)small clearings near ponds, 3)along forest roads or utility right-of-ways, and 4)at the edge of forests.
