EKPC RECEIVES ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE AWARD

At the 2003 Governor’s Conference, held in Lexington, Ky., EKPC received the Environmental Excellence Award for Environmental Education.

EKPC is becoming well known for its environmental education programs that target Kentucky school children as well as the general public. EKPC’s biologists have taken natural history information learned from field studies and have created programs that are taught at Kentucky schools and civic organizations.

EKPC has harvested and packaged native seeds to distribute throughout Kentucky and has also produced an Earth Day poster that celebrates Kentucky’s native plants and animals.

Environmental Excellence Awards are presented annually by the governor’s office, and nominations are solicited from citizens and businesses across the state.
