The importance
of bringing vital services to rural areas is just as important today as when EKPC began
more than a half century ago. Today, EKPC's members have expanded into providing Internet
service, home security, medical alert systems and other vital services. EKPC and the members are now studying ways to expand services to rural areas. Co-ops could assist with the development of remote learning centers and tele-medicine services, whereby the most advanced educational and medical expertise could be brought to remote areas through the Information Highway. The mission of rural cooperatives is more important and more challenging than ever.
