Commitment
to Community
supporting
our youth through scholarships and charities
Fifty deserving students from Kentucky’s small high
schools got a boost to their college education with scholarships and
thousands more showcased their artistic and athletic excellence during the
Touchstone Energy All “A” Classic in December and January. Annual
sponsorship of this event by Touchstone Energy Cooperatives is just
one more way we show our commitment to the community.
As part of the Classic, co-ops supported regional
basketball tournaments during January, art and ROTC drill in December,
cheerleading competitions in February, and baseball and softball
competitions in spring to provide well-rounded opportunities for all
students from small schools.
“Thanks to Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, the
Classic has been the best program I have been associated with in 39 years
of education,” said David Cowden, who chairs the scholarship committee.
“So many times, small schools and their students in Kentucky are
overlooked when it comes to passing out scholarships. Touchstone Energy
helps us see that these students make it to the next level.”
Touchstone Energy co-ops show they care about their
communities in a variety of other ways. They also supported the fourth
annual Touchstone Energy Motorcycle Charity Poker Run last summer. This
popular event attracted 150 riders and raised more than $3,000 for special
needs children served by the Crusade for Children.
Events like the All ‘A’ Classic and the
Charity Poker Run are special because they were created to benefit
children. Touchstone Energy co-ops believe in supporting our
communities, and children are the future of a community.
