CREEPY, CRAWLY…AND COLLECTIBLE

EKPC’s Environmental Education program recently introduced a series
of 30 Trading Cards guaranteed to stir up some excitement in middle
school classrooms across Kentucky.

From Eastern Hognose snakes to Spiny Softshell turtles, a colorful
spectrum of critters have slithered and crawled their way onto these
cards, which made their debut at Earth Day on April 24, 2004 at
the Louisville Zoo.

On the back of each card, kids will find a species description,
a distribution map, the habitat each species are found in and
a fun fact.

The program has been designed to raise awareness for native
species of reptiles and amphibians of Kentucky.

The cards will be at different stations/booths throughout the
Zoo, and participating kids will be able to get a card if they
visit a booth. The event will be first come, first serve.
